    1. Do I need AutoCAD® to run autokitchen®?
No. autokitchen® includes AutoCAD® technology. This means autokitchen® works as a stand-alone program without the client needing AutoCAD®.

    2. Do I need to know AutoCAD® to run autokitchen®?
No. The autokitchen® screen is different from the AutoCAD® screen. In addition, in autokitchen® there is little need to draw line by line and no need to use the command line like in AutoCAD®.

    3. Can I use my AutoCAD® drawings in autokitchen®?
Yes. There are at least a couple of ways to use an AutoCAD® drawing in autokitchen®:
      1. Open or insert an AutoCAD® layout file in autokitchen® and edit it, print it or use it as a template (for example to draw the walls of the kitchen tracing an AutoCAD® drawing).
      2. Add a 3D AutoCAD® block to your project by inserting the DWG in autokitchen®.

    4. Can I open autokitchen® drawings with AutoCAD®?
Yes. autokitchen® drawings are native DWG files just like all AutoCAD® files. In some cases you may need to activate the Microcad Object Enabler so that AutoCAD® recognizes all the elements created in autokitchen®. The Object Enabler utility is located inside the Tools folder in your autokitchen® CD.

    5. What are the main differences between autokitchen® PRO and autokitchen® Studio?
autokitchen® Studio includes three catalogs of standard cabinets. autokitchen® PRO includes the same three catalogs as well as three additional proxy catalogs plus a Catalog Editor tool that allows you to modify and save in your library cabinets with specific dimensions and names.

autokitchen® PRO includes many brand-name appliances and accessories and comes with a pricing module.

For more on this, please refer to the Product Comparison table.

    6. Can I customize the autokitchen® cabinet catalogs?
You can customize the autokitchen® PRO catalogs on your own in terms of basic cabinet and cabinet frame dimensions as well as cabinet materials, door style names and cabinet references or labels.

    7. Does autokitchen® give me a price quote for each design?
If you design with one of the autokitchen® supported catalogs, you will get a price quote. Even if you work with a universal catalog, you can get a list of all cabinets included in your project with a click of the mouse. This list is exportable in different formats such as Microsoft Excel or XML.

    8. Can I mix different styles of cabinetry in the same project?
Absolutely. You can mix different cabinet styles in the same project. For instance, inset cabinets and full overlay cabinets.

    9. Does autokitchen® use centimeters or inches?
autokitchen® can work in either system: imperial or metric. You can also doble dimension elements in both systems in the same drawing.

    10. Do I need a security device to run the program?
Yes. Each program comes with a hardware-lock key or dongle that connects either to the parallel or the USB port in your PC.

Users who need to run autokitchen® in more than one computer at the same time need to purchase additional licenses. To use the same program in two different computers at different times (i.e., laptop and desktop) the hardware-lock key needs to be plugged in the computer running autokitchen®.

    11. Can I e-mail an autokitchen® design to a customer?
Yes. You can email the design file (DWG), a PDF file created from inside autokitchen® or a color rendering of a design in either JPEG or BMP format. These files are emailed like you would email any other file. The recipient will be able to open and view design files with any DWG viewer. A PDF file can be viewed with Adobe and the JPEG files can be viewed with any internet browser.

    12. What is your policy regarding program upgrades?
Small improvements are periodically available via our Web page to customers with Maintenance agreements. In terms of regular upgrades, there is likely to be an upgrade every 12-15 months. Upgrades are free of charge to customers with Maintenance agreements. Upgrade prices for customers without Maintenance agreements are usually around 30 percent of the price of the new, upgraded version.

    13. If I buy autokitchen® Studio, can I upgrade to autokitchen® PRO later on?
Yes, as long as you upgrade to PRO within six months from the purchase date and the software version has not changed. If you let us know about this up front, we can keep you informed of upcoming autokitchen® releases so that you can minimize expenses in your upgrade to PRO.

    14. How do I print an autokitchen® design?
With autokitchen® you can print drawings as well as colour renderings.

The drawings can be printed in different formats, dimensions, views and scales. You can print them in black and white or in colour. You can print with or without dimensions, reference codes and other notations. You can personalize the printouts by including your name or the name of your customer. Finally, you can print drawings using different printing devices; from standard printers to professional plotters.

The colour renderings can be printed with autokitchen® and also with any software application that handles JPEG or BMP files (all browsers and basic paint and photo editing programs).
